My boat is a 1622 Actioncraft Flyfisher. It will comfortably hold two people plus myself.
We will fish shallow ocean side flats here in the Florida Keys somewhere between Key Largo and Key West as well as backcountry of the Florida Bay and Everglades National Park. Depending on the day we may even fish the Marquesas. I trailer my boat to where I think the best fishing will be based on weather patterns, location of your accommodations, fishing pressure, and type of fish you desire to pursue.
I will provide a cooler with ice and plenty of cold bottled water. You should bring your own lunch and drinks.
Your fishing license and the use of my fly rods is included in the price of the charter.
If you want to bring your own fly rods I suggest 8-9 wts.for bonefish, redfish, snook, and baby tarpon.
9-10 wts. for permit and medium tarpon and 11-12 wts. for large tarpon and sharks. All rods should be
outfitted with quality reels lined with floating saltwater lines and at least 200 yards of 30lb. backing.
Sometimes we will use a slow sinker or "sly line" in deeper water for medium to large tarpon during
season but not that often.
Custom saltwater flies will be provided but if you are like me and enjoy tying your own before a trip
feel free to call me for recipes. 305.395.2315.
There are a few things that are "must haves" for you on your fly fishing trip here to the Keys;
A good hat, POLARIZED sunglasses in light or medium amber. I like rose as well. (This will enhance your ability to see the fish swimming around you), sun screen, (I suggest even going so far as wearing long pants and long sleeve shirts. There is nothing more miserable than getting sun burned your first day of a trip.) A "Buff" face mask is also extremely helpful. If you want to fish the Everglades for snook, tarpon and redfish some bug spray may be prudent to have along. If there isn't much wind the no-see-ums can be relentless.
My rates are $500 for a full day (8hrs.) and $350 for a half day (4hrs). A $100 per day deposit is required upon booking. This will be nonrefundable if a two weeks notice of cancellation is not received via e-mail. It will be good for another time that I may be available in the future. One more thing you may want to bring is a good camera. You will most likely see and catch "experiences" fly fishing here in the Florida Keys and Everglades National Park that you will need photographic proof of the stories for your friends back home.
